My Trip to the LA Zoo

Welcome back to Heather's Perfect Post! Over the weekends, I went to the LA Zoo. There were a lot of amazing animals at the LA Zoo. One of my favorites was the Meerkat because it has an interesting habitat. How could they live underground if their habitat is hard and stony.

My Piano Recital

On February third, I had a piano recital. My two songs were Sonatina and Minuet in G minor. Sonatina was written by Ludwig van Beethoven and Minuet was written by Anna Magdalena Bach.

I didn't want to make a mistake, so I practiced at home like usual (except with my performance dress). Red is my favorite color. That's why I have a red dress. The red puffy dress was uncomfortable, but I had no other red dress that I liked. My shoes were black and I had white knee socks.

Here is a video at the recital place. It was at a church and had all the elements that we need. As we all know, this is a piano recital so we obviously had a piano set up.

My trip to Mountain High

When we went to Mountain High, we first went sledding. When we went sledding, there was a very steep side of the mountain where you can sled. I was getting hot on the mountains where there was snow (because I was running around, climbing steep sides while my brother was throwing snowballs). I decided to take my puffy pink jacket off. 

After a few minutes, my long-sleeved shirt was soaked. The good thing is that I had a overall pants and snow shoes for warmth. The negative thing is that we had to go to our hotel because it was getting late.

In this photo, my brother and I were snowboarding. We started to snowboard last year. My dad never took snowboard lessons, so he just skied. My mom is not in the picture because she was taking the picture. If you look carefully, you will see some snow powder. Guess what! It was snowing! I was so excited because this was the first time seeing real snow fall.

In the background, there is the lift. The lift gives you a ride all the way to the top of the mountain. It is fun riding on it, but there is no seat belt.

Here, I am snowboarding (again). Since I snowboarded all the way down from the top of the hill, the snowboard picked up a lot of snow. 

In the background there is the lift again. It looks different because it is in another position.

Guess what my Christmas present is? Here are some hints: It is big, long, and bouncy. This is a very helpful hint. READ ALL THE WORDS!

 TA DA! A pogo! What did you think it was? My brother, Aaron, took this photo of me bouncing in mid air. What an action shot! Do you know how to start on a pogo stick? If you read the words, you will know how, but first give a guess. How do you do it? Well, here is how you do it:

 How you use a pogo stick

 First, you try to balance on the the thing you stand on. It might be hard at the beginning, but you will get better.

Second, when you get better, you try to bounce. Be sure to wear a HELMET!

Third, when you almost mastered bouncing, try to beat your high score. Do it like your are trying to beat your high score on a game.

Welcome to Heather's Perfect Post!

My name is Heather, and I am a second grader in Mrs. Yollis' class. My favorite hobbies are tennis, swimming, and blogging. I just started tennis lessons, and my best stroke it the backhand. Swimming is the hobby I enjoy the best because I am very good at it. On my team, I swim fast, but I'm not the fastest. Finally, I enjoy blogging. Mrs. Yollis taught me to always leave quality comments, never put personal information out on the Internet, and leave comments on other blogs. Hopefully, I will get some comments back.

I have a dog named Rocky and he only likes to play fetch. If we give him another toy that is not a ball, he will just leave it there. He is a golden retriever mixed with a chow. His tongue and legs make him part chow. His legs are shorter than usual golden retrievers and his tongue has purple spots. We have a backyard and it has a pool. Rocky does not like to swim, but he knows how to.
