Welcome to Heather's Perfect Post!
My name is Heather, and I am a second grader in Mrs. Yollis' class. My favorite hobbies are tennis, swimming, and blogging. I just started tennis lessons, and my best stroke it the backhand. Swimming is the hobby I enjoy the best because I am very good at it. On my team, I swim fast, but I'm not the fastest. Finally, I enjoy blogging. Mrs. Yollis taught me to always leave quality comments, never put personal information out on the Internet, and leave comments on other blogs. Hopefully, I will get some comments back.

I have a dog named Rocky and he only likes to play fetch. If we give him another toy that is not a ball, he will just leave it there. He is a golden retriever mixed with a chow. His tongue and legs make him part chow. His legs are shorter than usual golden retrievers and his tongue has purple spots. We have a backyard and it has a pool. Rocky does not like to swim, but he knows how to.
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very perfect!
My favorite hobbies are reading, drawing, and dancing. I like reading the most because it helps your mind get stronger, and it builds your vocabulary.
Yes, I do have pets infact I have four King Cavalier Charles Spaniels. There names are Mika, Cooper, Pokie, and Rory. They are all very sweet and loving.
Is Rocky sweet and loving?
Sincerly,
Keira
@ Keira,
DeleteReading, drawing, and dancing are all really fun, but I like reading the best (just like you!). I like reading because it gets you more ideas and more imagination.
You seem to like dogs. Are Mika, Cooper, Pokie, and Rory all puppies? I asked that because four adult dogs would be very hard to control. Rocky is very easy to control, but sometimes he runs away.
In the last few days, Rocky actually ran away to chase a skunk. You might have smelled something funny, stinky, so it might be a skunk. Did you smell anything?
Yes, Rocky is sweet and loving. He sometimes is a little stinky, but we still love him. Which of your dogs do you like the best?
Warmly,
Heather
@ Heather,
DeleteI agree that reading gives you more ideas and builds up your imagination.
No, Mika, Cooper, Pokie, and Rory are not all puppies. Mika is 7, Cooper is 3, Pokie is 2, and Rory is 1.
Yes, I did smell something funny, and stinky. Cooper also gets in trouble with skunks. Sometimes he even gets skunked!
Even though sometimes they run away or they get skunked I love them all equally. How much trouble does Rocky get into?
Warmly,
Keira
@ Keira,
DeleteWhen Rocky sees a skunk, he tries to attack it. Sadly, (for Rocky) he always gets skunked D-:. After Rocky has been skunked, do you think the skunk will try and tease him ;-)?
Rocky has been in trouble many times. Do you remember when Rocky ran to school? If you don't, click on this hyperlink:
Runaway Rocky
Are your dogs outside or in the house?
Sincerely,
Heather
@Heather,
DeleteThank you for the reply!
I don't know if the skunks will try and tease him. It depends on how the skunks think. If the skunks tease Rocky, the skunks might spray him again, or Rocky might chase them without getting sprayed. The more likely thing to happen is that Rocky gets sprayed by the skunks.
Yes, I do remember when Rocky ran to school. I have met Rocky, and he is very sweet. He is also very soft!
My dogs are usually inside the house. The only time we take them outside is when they have to go to the bathroom, or when we take them on a walk around the neighborhood. I think it would be just silly to take a dog on a walk, in your house!
Is Rocky usually inside or outside? Do you take Rocky on walks? (Not counting when you walk him to school!)
Your pal,
Keira
@ Keira,
DeleteI have heard about your loss. You used to have four dogs, but now you only have three dogs. The dog was Mika. I have never met her, but she probably is very sweet, when she wakes up. You told me that she is usually lazy and sleeps a lot. Well... I don't blame her. Didn't you say that she was a mother of some dogs? You also told me that Mika died because her lungs were congested with fluid, and her heart wasn't beating right.
Yes, Rocky does get sprayed by the skunk. Even after a nice bath, Rocky still smells like skunk. We never tried to take a bath with tomato sauce for him, but I am pretty sure that it just makes you forget about the smell. Do you wash you dogs with tomato sauce?
You asked if we take Rocky on walks and if Rocky is usually inside or outside. Firstly, Rocky mostly stays inside our kitchen, and he is chained up. He is chained up because golden retrievers shed a lot, and we don't want dog fur all over our house. I think we should let Rocky roam around our house because we have wood floors and you can always see the fur. Second and last of all, we do take Rocky on walks even without counting the walks on the way to school, and on the way back from school.
You friend,
He☀ther
Heather, we have a lot in common. My children are swimmers, and I have a golden retriever! I also have a blog. Your writing is wonderful; keep up the good work.
ReplyDelete@ Virginia,
DeleteGolden retrievers are so nice in my opinion! What is your dog's name?
Your blog must be striking! I'm sure I would want to see your blog. Can you use a hyperlink to lead me to your blog? Here is a hyperlink to see how to do it:

I hope you have fun and a good time with the dog!
Warmly,
Heather
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteRocky is very cute! My favorite hobbies are drawing and reading. My favorite book is Little Women. I used to have two dogs and one cat, but sadly they all passed away. My dogs breeds were golden retrievers. I used to swim at the Calabasas Swim and Tennis Center. Where do you swim and play tennis at?
Warmly,
Jenna♥
@ Jenna,
DeleteRocky is very cute! I like both of your hobbies. I do not know the book Little Women. You used to have lots of pets in my opinion because I only have Rocky.
I swim at the Calabasas Swim and Tennis Center too. First, I started in swim classes. Now I am in swim team. I started out with bronze team, and then moved to silver team. What did you do when you were swimming?
Thoughtfully,
Heather
Dear Jenna,
DeleteSarah's favorite hobby is soccer and tennis. Her favorite book is The Black Stallion.
We go to the Tennis And Swim Center too! I also do not know The Little Women, but I think I saw the book in the library.
Katelyn's favorite hobby is basketball and handball. Remember when we played basketball at Isabella's house with your dad? That was fun! My favorite book is Rules by Cynthia Lord. We are reading it for our next book club meeting at the Calabasas library.
Sincerely,
Sarah and Katelyn
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing that you and your friends got blogs. I would want to have a blog if I could. My hobby's are playing baseball and alpha smarting. I am not surprised that you got your own blog because you finished alpha smarting. You, Abbey, Collin and Mallory all got blogs. I have two dogs, the breed is a Coton de Tulear.
It is amazing to see friends getting there own blog.
Sincerely,
Bryce
@ Bryce,
DeleteYour hobbies are great! The thing is that baseball is not my favorite hobby. :-) Alphasmarting is first-rate for me. Which hobby do you like more?
Yes, I think we got blogs because we finished and commented a lot. I added a gadget. The gadget is: My Blog List. It has: Abbey's Articulate Artistry, Collin's Cool Collection, Mallory's Gallery of Life, Mrs. Yollis's Classroom Blog, and Extended Comments for Students (which is owned by Mr. Mannell).
Sincerely,
Heather
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the wonderful world of blogging! You have worked very hard in school and have put forth great effort in the area of writing and connecting through blogging. Good for you!
I like the colorful template that you selected. It is very bright and sunny like you! The gadgets you've chosen are also great. I added a "Follow by Email" gadget so readers will get an email when you publish a new post. I already subscribed!
The next step would be to add some student bloggers and class blogs to a blog roll. I use the "List" gadget, but with your parents help, you can create one. I'll show all of you on Tuesday if you need some help.
You asked about hobbies. My favorite pastimes (synonym for hobbies) are hiking and being out in nature, practicing yoga, and blogging. As you know, I frequently hike with my adorable Labrador retriever, Buck!
You mentioned you like to swim. What is your favorite stroke and why? We've been talking a lot about air temperature, I wonder what temperature they set the thermostat for the pool water? See if you can find out!
Your proud teacher,
Mrs. Y♥llis
@ Mrs. Yollis,
DeleteI thought changing the background would be fun! My mom wanted it to look like a ki'ds blog, so I tried, but it
doesn't really look like a kids blog to me. :-(
What is the "List" gadget? I think I need some help!
Hiking and being out in nature sounds like some splendid hobbies! Yesterday, I just went to a ranch. My brother and I and one other friend made a club.
From,
Heather
Hi, Heather. I'm a high school English teacher in Illinois.
ReplyDeleteYou're an impressive young writer! Thanks for sharing your ideas.
That's a great-looking dog!
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteI love the title of your blog. It is perfect. The pastel colours of your blog are very calming and restful.
Many of the pupils in the class I teach swim like little fish. They also enjoy athletics and martial arts, football and rugby. In the summer they like tennis.
Mrs Yollis has taught you well and your writing is of a high quality. I also advise my class never to put personal information online.
My hobbies are art, walking and blogging. We have two pets in my home: an overfed goldfish called Bruce. He is twelve years old and except for being fed too often is very well looked after. We have a beautiful dog called Suki. She is a Japanese Akita. Long ago in Japan, when the warriors went out to battle, the Akitas were left to mind the families. So she minds us well. This is in her nature.
Rocky looks very lovely too. I read a book called 'How to talk dog' and Rocky looks as if he cares about the person who is taking the photograph very much.
With every good wish

Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on earning your own blog, especially as a second grader! You should be very proud of your accomplishment. I am a parent of 2 former students of Mrs. Yollis who also earned their own blogs. It has been a fantastic experience and I hope this hobby stays with you for many years to come. I look forward to reading your future posts.
Best,
Victoria
@ Victoria,
DeleteIt is very nice to meet you, Victoria. Your two kids commented a lot, am I right?
I worked very hard to earn a blog. In fact, I won Family Blogging Month. If you know what it is, good. If you don't know what it is, I will tell you. It is where you comment a lot. The months are November and April. It could be anywhere on any of Mrs. Yollis' blog. At the end, Mrs. Yollis picks out three pupils. They are the top three pupils who commented the most. I got FIRST PLACE! :-D Do your kids know what Family Blogging Month is?
Nice to meet you (again),
Heather
P.S On Family Blogging Month, I commented forty-nine comments! :-)
Hi Heather from Ireland. YOur blog is wonderful. Well done. I have a golden retriever dog who is 14 and a half years old now. Her name is Síoda which is Irish for Silk. We called her that because, when she was a puppy, her ears were so silky. I play music and that's what I love to do most but I'm also a teacher and I love doing that as well. We have a class blog that you might like to visit sometime kidblog.org/msokeeffesclass I have also spoken to my class a lot about never putting personal details online. I thinkyou have a great teacher. Well done on the excellent writing
ReplyDeleteMs O'Keeffe
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on earning your blog! Your blog looks fabulous. I like the color theme created by the background image, and enjoyed the poll about my favorite dog. I no longer have a dog because my oldest child was allergic to him, so I found him a wonderful home. He was exceptionally intelligent and such an amazing dog. He was a wolf-hybrid: his dad was a wolf/Australian Shepherd mix, and his mom was coyote/Husky mix.
My daughter really wants a dog, so I've been contemplating a dog that is hypoallergenic such as a labradoodle or a Samoyed.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Watanabe
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteWow, your a great typer!
Rocky, is so cute! I have a few questions for him: Rocky, do you ever chew on stuff? Do you have any golden retriever, chow, or any other kind of dog friends? Have you ever been driven to school to meet Heather?
Sincerely,
Chl♥e
@ Chloe,
DeleteYes, I love to chew on stuff. My favorite thing to chew on is my paw! :-D
I have a friend in Diamond Bar. She is a golden retriever and much taller than me. That's because I'm mixed with a chow!
I have not driven to school, but I would very much like to!
Do you like to chew on stuff? :-P
If you do, what is your favorite thing to chew on?
Your buddy,
Rocky
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite hobbies are playing basketball and video games. My basketball team name is the Bruins. My team has only lost once. I was very sad that I lost, but it happens some times. I have only two fish. I wish I had a dog. Do you also have a fish?
From,
Ryan
Dear Heather,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite hobbies is basketball and wii. I don't have a pet now. I want a golden retriever, when we get a dog. I used to have a fish. If you have a fish, what kind of fish is it?
Your friend,
Katelyn
Hi Heather,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Judi, and I have the same type of dog that you own; however, my dog is a female and her name is Promise. She does not like baths, but she does enjoy venturing out into our pond.
I see that you enjoy swimming and tennis. That is great that you are involved in sports! I too am involved in sports. Participating in sports is a great way to meet new people, get exercise while having fun, and learning important life lessons. I encourage you to keep having fun while working hard and before you know it you might just become the fastest swimmer on your team!
It is nice to meet you!
Judi
